Kick the Drink. . . Easily by Jason Vale
“Simply brilliant and easy to read” are what all the critics say about this book. In this book the author gives his steps and opinions on the all the issues associated with quitting the Number 1 drug in the world … bum ba da dum … Alcohol. If you have already read some of Jason’s books than you would probably be familiar with his easy, common sense approach to nutrition. In this book he shares his experiences with alcohol and how you can quit. If you are having doubts about your own drinking than you would do no harm reading this book. Although Jason doesn’t provide scientific back up for his statistics or theories, it is very hard to argue with his advice. In the end we still have to check if it passes the WilliLearn test and find out if WilliLearn learned anything at all.
Writing Style
Jason Vales style of writing is very easy to follow. He writes in a very simple, persuasive style and speaks directly to the reader. He regularly makes statements backed up by very logical and personal observations. I never got bored while reading this book and did not drift off or become impatient.
Did I learn?
Yes I honestly believe this book would force people in to the habit of not drinking. I had never considered myself hooked on alcohol but this book really made me open my eyes to the trap of binge drinking. I now realise how brainwashed half of our society is in terms of alcohol consumption. Did I learn something new? I can honestly say I did.
References, Studies and Bibliographies
Although he had no bibliographies in the back pages he still referenced the source of his opinions and statistics throughout the book which helps a cynical fart like me out. No doubt he is a good writer and makes a convincing case but I still love bibliographies on my self-help books.
Does it help me and will it help you?
I can safely say that this book did help me. Will it help you? Well that depends on a number of factors. If you are one of those social drinkers that has a pang of guilt in the back of their minds then maybe you are one of those people who regularly makes excuses to justify your drinking. Maybe you think alcohol doesn’t do harm to anyone and may actually be good for you! If you are one of those people then you should read this book. You should approach it with an open mind and let the years of brainwashing flow from your head and down the toilet. This is how much I think it will help you.
Does it inspire me and will it inspire you?
Well I liked it but whether you would like it is up to you. I don’t know what would inspire each and every person but I do think it is a good book to get a different perspective on alcohol treatment. Who knows, maybe in years to come people will look back and see this as one of the turning points in the war against alcohol.
